If you are a student and looking for housing in the Netherlands, it is always wise to start as early as possible due to the shortage of housing in the Netherlands. Here are some of the websites which are reliable:
- https://kamernet.nl/en (Subscription is required, very reliable, rooms available anywhere in the Netherlands)
- https://www.canvas-student.com/why-canvas/ (Subscription not required, very reliable, Rooms in Utrecht city only, limited rooms available every week you have to be the first to book a room)
- https://www.xior-booking.com/# (Subscription not required, very reliable, might need a code from your university to book most of the rooms there, please visit website for more information)
- The other main point is that every university has a list of websites that they refer to for student housing. Please refer to those. This will vary in respect to the University. As an University in Amsterdam will only recommend housing in Amsterdam area so the list is tailored to university region. If you just google search Housing and your university name if should lead you to a page on how you can manage a housing (E.g Housing Tilburg University)
- Some universities also have affiliation with some of the student housing agencies so please try to find information through your university website if they can help you book a room before you arrive to the Netherlands.
- Even if it’s recommended except for Kamernet don’t but subscriptions for any other websites as they are useless and they mostly display ads from Kamernet and you will just have to end up buying kamernet subscription in the end to avail the housing.
- I am not recommending Funda and Pararius for students, as these websites are free for all but these are not dedicated for students and you will compete with all the Dutch Nationals and International expats, so it’s better to focus in Kamernet with few competition and other student housing which only offers to students.
